Wire Wrapping Class, May 13 th
The CVMC had it's first wire wrapping class on Saturday May 13 th . The class was available to 10 people and although I thought that number was kind of small at first, I soon realized that any more than that would have made the individual instruction we all received much less and would have been harder on the instructor. The class was delivered by accomplished wire wrapper, Ron Namislo from Northern Berkshire Club. The members had to supply their own jewelry pliers and stones and Ron supplied enough wire and supplies for each person to wrap 3 stones or more depending on their size. We hit the ground running right at 9am sharp and by 10:45 we all had our first wrap completed. We were taught two different, simple wraps that would accommodate many different shapes of stones. The first wrap was kind of difficult to the untrained fingers of the group but we got it thanks to the instructor's patience and skill! The second wrap went much better using some of the same techniques we used in the first. It was truly a good time for all and I look forward to doing another one in the future. Everybody made 2 photo worthy pieces of wire wrapped jewelry with most being from self collected specimens and we were all very proud of our accomplishments!!
