The CVMC 75th anniversary, Diamond Jubilee Picnic
was held at Conant Park in Southampton and it was a picture perfect day! About 60 Club members attended the chicken BBQ that started out with coffee and socializing at 9:30am along with tailgating and wire/gem tree making with Maria Sansolne. This activity has got to be one of the best hands on activities the Club has at our picnics and this craft is enjoyed by adults as well as kids! After lunch Club President Jack Marcy presented awards to Club members Don Davis, Wayne Corwin, Helen Rodak and Fred Wilda in recognition for all they have done for the Club. Helen Rodak then spoke briefly on the history of the Club and after the Chinese auction there was a lapidary demonstration by Bob Colby where members could make their own cabochons and Fred Wilda showed members how to mount and box mineral specimens. The party finally broke up about 4pm and it was a perfect day to celebrate our great Club and ourselves!
