LOUDVILLE TRIP REPORT 2013

The CVMC ventured off to the Loudville Lead Mine on April 28th The trip to the Loudville lead mine began with an examination of the minerals we could expect to find. After that, nine members headed out to the site. We went to the collecting area on the west side of the river, where we were later joined by six others who had gone to the east side. We dug in the regular area, and also explored the banks downstream where the river bends. We found specimens of quartz, galena, wulfenite, and pyromorphite. Everyone left with something in their bucket. It was sunny and the temperatures were mild, excellent weather for collecting. The trip leader discovered a rich lode of poison ivy. The roots are as bad as the leaves!
