The CVMC follows the AFMS code of ethics .
A large measure of the enjoyment of our hobby consists of collecting in the field. For that reason, the members are proud to endorse the following:
| I will observe the "Golden Rule", will use Good Outdoor Manners and will at all times conduct myself in a manner which will add to the stature and Public Image of Rockhounds everywhere. |
Revised July 7, 1999 at the AFMS Annual Meeting
Remember…Rules are Rules!
Hi all…this is just a reminder that no matter where you go collecting, there are going to be rules to follow. It doesn’t matter where you go, Loudville, Chester, the Betts Mines, the Tripp Mine or anywhere, there are rules! As club members it’s our responsibility to follow these rules and make sure others follow these rules! The EFMLS / AFMS has a code of ethics that we follow (printed above) http://www.amfed.org/ethics.htm
Above and beyond that, private collecting sites that are open to club trips have rules of their own that we MUST follow!! If we don’t follow the rules set by the land/mine/quarry owners, we are jeopardizing the CLUBS privilege to collect at these sites in the future. If the club was thrown out of a collecting site for not following the rules, the fallout from that could damage our collecting privileges with other places and put a black mark on the clubs name for years! We are losing collecting sites year after year and it’s from peoples disregard for the property owners and the rules set forth by them. There isn’t a mineral specimen in the world that is worth the loss of a collecting site, be respectful, be honest and be a good representative of the CVMC and you can bet that we will be allowed back again!
Collecting in MA or anywhere is a privilege, not a right and it’s our job to maintain that privilege!
